Party for Freedom
The Dutch anti Islam party of Geert Wilders, founded in 2006, which won the 2023 election.
Overview
Geert Wilders, a former VVD parliamentarian, founded the PVV in 2006 as a one man party with no membership structure, campaigning against Islam, migration, the EU, and the establishment. It supported minority governments from 2010, was frozen out after the 2017 Moroccan chant controversy, and won the largest seat count in 2023, then supported the Schoof cabinet without entering it fully. Its program pairs the radical right internationally with welfare generosity for natives. The party epitomizes personalized party organization: one leader, a foundation, no branches, total message control.
