Conservative Party of Canada
The Canadian center right party, formed by merger in 2003, of Harper and Poilievre.
Overview
The Conservative Party was created in 2003 by the merger of the Progressive Conservatives and the Canadian Alliance, itself heir of the western Reform revolt against the 1990s PC collapse. Stephen Harper governed 2006-2015 with tax cuts, crime measures, and fiscal discipline through the GFC. Andrew Scheer, Erin O'Toole, and Pierre Poilievre led the party to sustained poll dominance 2022-2024, before the 2025 Liberal recovery under Carney denied it power again in a stunning reversal. The party unites western populism, Ontario suburbs, and Atlantic toryism, the standard bearer of Canadian conservatism in its fusion form.
